The “Blue Box Renaissance” project was initiated in 2009 in collaboration with Devon Stout, Distribution Manager for the Meadville Tribune. It was intended to celebrate community, promote citizen engagement, encourage reading and literacy, and enhance Meadville’s Public Art Trail. The artistically transformed newspaper distribution racks were developed through a College – Community Collaboration. Sixteen Boxes were completed and placed in designated locations in downtown Meadville and adjacent communities. Pictured here (top photo) is a rack being painted at a Second Saturday Celebration at Meadville’s historic Market House during the summer of 2011. Below are snapshots of some of the other boxes completed between 2010 – 2013.
